The reunion committee is diligently working to put together an unforgettable event for our classmates. As we finalize the details, we’re mindful of the expenses involved. Over the past five years, costs, particularly for labor and food, have risen significantly.

However, we’re also aware that many of our classmates are now in better financial positions, with increased discretionary income, especially as some of us have reached our peak earning potential and others are becoming empty nesters. Therefore, we’re striving to organize a high-quality reunion while being mindful of costs, particularly for those for whom price could be a deciding factor in attending.

We have developed a plan for classmates to help offset some of our reunion costs or sponsor an unnamed classmate who may need a little assistance. The goal is not to raise money for our class funds but to offset the cost of this reunion and to help our classmates who may need it.

Sponsorship, Donations and Classmate Support:

Sponsorship:

Money from a Company or Classmate to help defer the cost of a specific event or the overall reunion. This can be a named opportunity where we provide exposure for your company or business.

Donation:

Same as above, but generally from an individual. This can be made publicly or anonymously.

Contributions can be:

  • Named or anonymous
  • Large or Small (Friday night bar -Est. $19,000 or $50 to help a classmate
  • General or specific (Reunion Fund, “Help a classmate,” or for a specific event.)

* The reunion committee prefers general donations, but we are happy for any donation.

Classmate Support:

Donations specifically to help defray registration and event costs for classmates who may need assistance.

Brian Caldwell (past Class Treasurer) and Tony Newpower (current Class Treasurer) are overseeing financial assistance. They will handle inquiries discreetly and respectfully. Please reach out to them if finances are a barrier to your attendance, or if you know a classmate who may need support.

Brian Caldwell – (410) 592-5215, Brian@elder.care

Tony Newpower – (858) 228-0910, anthony.newpower@gmail.com

We’re currently finalizing budgets and ticket prices, and your contribution would greatly assist us. If you’d like to contribute, please visit our registration website, which is now open only for this specific purpose. While our registration website can process donations, it’s a bit clunky for this purpose.

For larger donations exceeding $1,000 and/or if you are interested in making this a tax-deductible donation, we recommend reaching out to me (Karen) directly to avoid credit card fees. A very simple explanation is the class fund is NOT tax deductible. Donations made through the Alumni Association may be tax deductible. I will assist you in navigating this process and ensuring the funds ultimately reach their intended destination.

Please feel free to make donations through the website, but if you prefer to avoid credit card fees, don’t hesitate to reach out to either Tony or me (Karen). We understand that too many options can be overwhelming, so if there’s a specific area you’d like to donate to, please let us know. Your support is greatly appreciated!

Please be assured that any funds exceeding specific needs will go towards the general reunion fund and class fund, and indicate clearly if you wish your donation to remain anonymous.

Your generosity and support are invaluable as we strive to make this reunion memorable for all. Thank you for being part of our community, the greatest USNA class! We can not wait to gather as a class in a few short months.

Go Navy!
